Susan N. Gary, Orlando J. and Marian H. Hollis Professor at the University of Oregon School of Law, will present “Legislative Update.” Susan Gary will describe changes to Oregon statutes covering estate administration for no-asset estates, small estates, and claims for wrongful death and personal injury; loss of inheritance due to parental abandonment; the prudent investor standard and purpose trusts; protective proceedings; and nonprofit corporations.

 

SUSAN N. GARY is an Orlando J. and Marian H. Hollis Professor at the University of Oregon School of Law, where she teaches trusts and estates, estate planning, nonprofit organizations, and an undergraduate course on law and families.  She is an Academic Fellow of ACTEC and has been active in the Real Property, Trust and Estate Section of the American Bar Association.  She is currently serving as Reporter for the Electronic Wills Drafting Committee of the Uniform Law Commission.

 

Susan is a member of the Oregon Law Commission and served as Reporter for its Probate Modernization Work Group.  She is a member of the Executive Committee of the Nonprofit Organizations Law Section of the Oregon State Bar and chaired the committee that developed a bill to revise Oregon’s nonprofit corporation statutes. She worked with the Sustainable Law Section of the Bar to develop a bill revising the prudent investor statute, and she helped write a new section of the trust code that creates a new form of trust called a stewardship trust.
